Schedule at-home online tutoring this summer to ensure they return to school ready to succeed. Independent research shows that, when bringing the most experienced math tutors together with engaging learning environments, children can quickly catch up or jump ahead in their math learning. See the results from Cignition's recent efficacy study.
Effectiveness starts with the quality of the tutors providing instruction. Our tutors are proven, certified current/former teachers with extensive experience teaching math. They are committed to teaching math with a focus on deep conceptual understanding, rather than procedures and shortcuts.
Our tutors go through a rigorous interview process to ensure only the best, most qualified candidates are hired to be part of our team. All candidates are pre-screened and evaluated based on their teaching experience and responses to questions about their pedagogical practices. Each candidate must perform mock tutoring sessions where they are evaluated on four criteria: teaching for conceptual understanding, repertoire of visual models, responsiveness to student misconceptions and questions, and rapport with students.
Our tutors receive ongoing professional development and training. We conduct frequent skill development sessions where our most experienced tutors, many of whom are math coaches, share best-practices and suggestions for improving tutoring sessions. We also have a forum where our tutors can share ideas and best practices.
Cignition tutors are experts in 3rd through 9th grade math topics and concepts.
Based on their experience working with your child’s grade level and curriculum, a tutor will be matched to your child’s unique needs, working with them to cover the breadth and depth of appropriate math topics. Importantly, our tutors are also experts in identifying and remediating gaps in prior year's learning, and can also determine when a child is ready for more accelerated learning.
Cignition only works with the most experienced certified math professionals, many of which have deep experience working with children that have special needs.
